AXITY in Southern Latin America: Eduardo Millán
We spoke to Eduardo Millán, General Director of AXITY in southern Latin America about his expectations of the company in the region and this is what he told us:
What does the birth of AXITY in SOLA (Southern Latin America) mean?
Apart from the fact that I am personally responsible for the operations in SOLA, for me, it is very exciting to have a name that identifies and connects us with the notion of a great regional company that we are creating between all of us. I think that it is a milestone that has an even greater relevance outside Mexico.
First I think it gives us a more powerful vision than a single regional company and also because it becomes more relevant to grow by completing all the capabilities of the region, with its full support and that of the rest of the company. It has never been clearer that together we are stronger than we are alone.
Which areas is AXITY going to focus on in SOLA?
In part, they do not differ too much from the rest of the company as we share the same purpose and the same vison and values. We also share some of the challenges at the company level, like to integrate very well the different capabilities that we have and be able to develop and always maintain a catalog of solutions at hand that allow us to support our clients on a regional basis in their projects and digital transformation.
However, particularly we need to fulfill our capabilities in certain operations, for example in Chile all of the technological practice (Communications, Data Center,…) and security (where we only have one part linked mostly to IT services). In Colombia, we want to recover our historical strength in information and IT services. Also in Peru, where we have a presence throughout the region, our idea is to benefit from economies of scale so we can take advantage of what possibly could be the market with the most growth in our sector for the next few years.
Do you operate very differently in NOLA and SOLA?
Not at all! The objective is the same and the company too, therefore the only differences are more about history and maturity of the unique businesses. The operating result is consolidated with the same criteria in each country and the only differences that arise are from legal or fiscal ones in each country.
And how is all that going to affect the human capital?
Of course, where a change of this nature is going to have the most effect is on the 4,000 people that form AXITY. As I said before from my personal point of view, it is an exciting moment that we are facing, and I am sure that for most of the team it is a reason for celebration, as it opens enormous opportunities and pride to become one of the most relevant information and communication technologies companies in the region.
On the other hand, I think that it is an exponential growth opportunity for everyone. Those of us that dedicate ourselves to be lean and grow the number of projects and clients. The possibilities of being in these projects, being more transformational and as innovators. Our presence in the most important clients of each country and the region brings us a world of opportunities that we cannot miss.
Furthermore, in the different operations that we have integrated and that today culminate together in a unique company that have applied really interesting practices of management and talent development that we can now use on a global level, such as in the Virtual Campus of Getronics Columbia, the career paths of AXITY or the certification programs and derivative training of the regional alliances with manufacturers such as SAP, CISCO, BMC, etc.
You talk a lot about the unique company, don´t you?
Well yes! And it is because it is very relevant. Frist understand that we are neither four nor two companies, but one where a great team of people shares a purpose with the vision of being a technology company, led by values and recognized by the clients for their comprehensive capabilities in transformation and innovation.
And also unique in the sense that there is no other company with the passion of our Latin origin, in the relevant region and nearby, the scope of solutions from the strategy to the connectivity, with the vision of the information as a fundamental asset. From the foundation,
the ability to train and innovate is what AXITY has.
For AXITY the SOLA region AXITY consists of our operations in Columbia, Peru, Chile and Argentina.
